Our golden rules
Everything we publish on NIMOGAMING, from our slots guide to our live casino guide, assumes you follow these rules:
- 21+ only. If you are under 21, do not gamble. Full stop.
- Entertainment, not income. The house always has an edge over time. Expect to pay for the fun, like a movie ticket.
- Set a budget before you start, and only use money you can afford to lose. Never use rent, bills, school fees or borrowed money.
- Set a time limit and stick to it.
- Never chase losses. Trying to "win it back" is how small losses become big ones. Past results do not change the odds of the next spin or hand.
- Do not gamble when stressed, sad, angry or drunk.
- Follow your local law. In Malaysia, online casino gambling is not licensed and Muslims are prohibited from gambling. Our legal guide explains the rules, and our esports guide covers free alternatives.
The budget and time limit method
Decide your monthly entertainment budget first, then split it into sessions. When a session budget is gone, the session is over, even if the time is not. When the time is up, stop, even if you are ahead. Here is a simple example:
| Item | Philippines (₱) | Malaysia (RM) | Rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly fun budget | ₱2,000 | RM150 | Money left after bills and savings |
| Sessions per month | 4 | 4 | One per week, max |
| Budget per session | ₱500 | RM37 | Stop when it is gone |
| Time per session | 45 minutes | 45 minutes | Set a phone alarm |
| Top-ups allowed | None | None | No "one more deposit" |
The Malaysia column is shown for budgeting and social or free-play games only. Real-money online casino gambling is not licensed in Malaysia. Our bonuses guide explains why bonus wagering can make sessions last longer than planned, so factor that in.
Warning signs checklist
Based on widely used problem-gambling screening signs, ask yourself honestly. Do you:
- spend more money or time than you planned, again and again?
- need to bet bigger amounts to feel the same excitement?
- chase losses, or feel you must win back what you lost?
- borrow money, use credit, sell things or skip bills to gamble?
- hide your gambling from family or friends, or lie about it?
- feel restless, irritable or anxious when trying to cut down?
- gamble to escape stress, loneliness or problems?
- miss work, school or family time because of gambling?
Other signs to watch for: thinking about gambling most of the day, planning the next session while still in the current one, feeling guilty afterwards, or arguing with loved ones about money. Problem gambling can affect anyone, whatever their income or education, and it often grows slowly over months rather than overnight.
If you answered "yes" to even one or two, take a break and talk to someone. Answering yes to several is a strong sign to seek help using the contacts below.
Tools that help
Licensed platforms usually offer player-protection tools. Look for them before you deposit, and see our safety checklist for other signs of a responsible operator.
- Deposit limits: daily, weekly or monthly caps on how much you can add.
- Loss and session limits: automatic stops after a set loss or time.
- Reality checks: pop-up reminders showing how long you have played.
- Cool-off periods: a short break, from 24 hours to several weeks.
- Self-exclusion: a longer block, often six months or more, that should not be lifted early.
In the Philippines, PAGCOR runs a self-exclusion programme that players and, in some cases, family members can apply for. Check the PAGCOR website for current details. You can also use phone tools: screen-time limits, app blockers, and removing saved cards or e-wallet links. Our payments guide and mobile play guide show how.

How to help a friend
- Pick a calm, private moment. Say what you have noticed without blaming, for example "I've noticed you seem stressed about money lately."
- Listen more than you talk. Avoid lectures and labels.
- Do not lend money for gambling or to cover gambling debts.
- Share the help lines above and offer to sit with them while they call or chat.
- Look after yourself too. Support services also help family and friends.
Change rarely happens after one conversation. Be patient, keep the door open, and celebrate small steps, such as a week without gambling or a deposit limit finally switched on. If you share bank accounts or e-wallets with the person, consider separating them to protect household money while they get support.
Parents: protecting minors
NIMOGAMING is strictly for adults 21+. To keep kids and teens away from gambling content:
- turn on Google Family Link (Android) or Screen Time (iPhone) to block gambling apps and websites;
- use separate profiles on shared phones, tablets and laptops;
- never save passwords, cards or e-wallet PINs on shared devices;
- watch for loot boxes and in-game purchases in games popular with teens; and
- talk openly about how chance, odds and the house edge really work.
